We recommend you talk to your broadband
provider about the following 5 criteria you need to ensure a
reliable music streamed service.
Criteria 1 - 2MB download speed
We recommend a basic business package with 2mb download. As
you don't need to upload to us the upload speed is not too
important so most companies will offer a 2MB download and
256k upload.
Criteria 2 - always on service
The second criteria you need with broadband for a music
service is "always on" so you don't have to pay extra
charges if you stay on for a certain amount of time. Ask for
an always on package
Criteria 3 - Good Signal
They must supply you with broadband with a wireless router
to transmit a signal around your venue. You must be able to
pick up the signal wherever you are going to locate our
NET-DJ IMP unit. So if you want to locate our unit behind
the bar plugged into a mixer or amp you will need to ensure
that a signal can be picked up there from the wireless
router located beside where the modem is (perhaps from the
office)
Criteria 4 - Filters/spliters
Your broadband provider must provide a filter/spliter at the
point of entry for the phone line if you are using a
landline to receive in your broadband. This means that the
phone, fax and credit cards are split off separately from
the adsl/broadband so that the music does not get cut off at
any stage.
Criteria 5 - Use broadband through a line
From our experience to date using a landline to receive your
broadband is the most reliable so we would advise you choose
a provider who supplies broadband through a line. |
